Hello and welcome

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by our emotions, thoughts and experiences. Counselling helps you to understand yourself, your reactions and learn different ways of being, so you can find your way through your challenges.

Apricity means “the warmth of the sun in Winter” - and I feel counselling can help you find your light again in darker times. I believe change is possible if you want it to be and that you already have all you need in you already. I can be a sounding board to uncover what’s getting in the way and support you in practicing new ways of being.

I’m down-to-earth, chatty and compassionate. I will encourage and challenge you to explore yourself, but always at your pace. Starting counselling can be daunting but you’ve come this far, so let’s have a chat to see if it feels right to work together. One step at a time.

Counselling - How I can help

I'm a qualified Therapeutic Psychotherapist registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I offer private counselling sessions and also supervision to trainee and qualified therapists.

I provide a supportive relationship to explore what’s going on for you. I will listen in order to understand you, without judgment and in complete privacy, always mindful to nurture the safeness between us for you to explore as openly as you can.

I'm an 'integrative' therapist, so I combine different skills and techniques that help you explore your thoughts, emotions and your somatic (body) experience. You'll learn to identify and process your emotions and develop cognitive and somatic strategies to build well-being and resilience. I nurture your compassion, curiosity and confidence in your true self.

Being able to talk freely is liberating and enlightening in itself. But I also encourage curiosity in how emotions and lifestyle impact your physical health and mental wellbeing. I seek to understand you holistically, connecting the dots between emotional, mental and physical issues.

I am a 'trauma-informed' trained in many approaches including: Compassionate Inquiry, Polyvagal Theory, Somatic therapy, Mindfulness, CBT, Person-Centred, Internal Family Systems therapy, Gestalt and Transactional analysis.

I offer face-to-face sessions at my therapy room near Brackley or, during good weather, potentially outdoors for walk-and-talk sessions. If better for you, we can also meet online.

All are welcome

I work with young people (16+ years) and adults (although not cats currently!), welcoming all cultures and identities across a broad range of issues. I provide non-judgmental empathy, a supportive compassionate style and even a bit of humour if that helps! I love nurturing young people as they learn to navigate the challenges of life. But as adults, we can also need support while evolving on our journey.

Find your light

I love “apricity” - the warmth of the Winter sun. When it feels gloomy, sunlight brings colour, clarity and contrast. It brightens details not seen or appreciated for a while. The sun does hide behind the clouds, but it’s always there waiting to shine again. I believe there is also light within each of us but sometimes our own clouds get in the way. Together, we can reconnect you to your light to help brighten your path ahead.

A place for you

You are welcome to meet me in person in the privacy of my comfortable counselling room. Or, if better for you, we can hold sessions online. If, like me, you enjoy being outdoors, we could walk and talk together during better weather. I find moving and breathing in nature can nurture the spirit, helping us reconnect with ourselves and the world around us.

Sessions and fees

I offer a free 30 minute introductory meeting to get to know each other a little. You can share what’s going on for you and the support you need. I’ll explain how I work and answer any queries you may have. We can decide from there if we would like to work together and arrange when we can meet regularly.

Sessions are 50 minutes and I work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. We can meet in person in my counselling room in Crowfield, 5 minutes from Brackley. I am about 20 minutes from Banbury, Bicester and Northampton. If you prefer to walk and talk, we can find a location in the nearby countryside.

Although I prefer to meet in person, I offer sessions online too. This may help if you live further away, or struggle with time or energy to meet.

Sessions are £60. I offer limited concessions and will try to help if I can.

Walk and talk sessions may need to be priced higher to accommodate travel time.

All sessions to be paid via bank transfer in advance or by cash on the day. PLease note I have a 3 day cancellation policy in my counselling agreement.
